Trump Says Joe Arpaio Should ‘Feel Good’ About His Future

[8/23/17]  President Donald Trump addressed reports Tuesday night that convicted former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be pardoned and said that Arpaio should “feel good” about his future.

Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt by a federal judge after he defied a court order to stop detaining suspected illegal immigrants. Fox News reported that Trump told the outlet he is “seriously considering” a pardon for Arpaio, who is a Trump supporter.

While White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied that Trump will announce a pardon for Arpaio during a rally Tuesday in Phoenix, where he served as sheriff, the president heavily hinted at one.
