Eager Lion 2012 “is the largest exercise held in the region in the past ten years,” Major General Ken Tovo, head of the US Special Operations Forces, told reporters in Amman.

“Yesterday we began to apply the skills that we have developed over the last weeks in an irregular warfare scenario … They will last for approximately the coming two weeks,” he added.

“The message that I want to send through this exercise is that we have developed the right partners throughout the region and across the world … insuring that we have the ability to … meet challenges that are coming to our nations,” Tovo said.

Over 12,000 soldiers are taking part in the war games, representing 19 countries, including Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Australia.

Jordanian army operations and training chief Major General Awni Adwan said the military exercise “has been in the planning phase for the past three years.”

“No forces will be deployed north … the exercise is not connected to any real world event,” Adwan said when asked if the war games were related to the ongoing violence in Jordan’s northern neighbor Syria.

“This has nothing to do with Syria. We respect the sovereignty of Syria. There is no tension between the Syrians and us. Our objectives are clear,” Adwan said.

Israel – despite having extensive security agreements with Jordan – was not invited to participate in the exercises. Several Arab nations participating in the drill are still formally at war with the Jewish state.

The next location (#2) is the Chicago Police Department boat house next to the Chicago Locks. In the photos below, we see the Coast Guard patrolling the locks and river side of the operation for NATO, and the Chicago Police boat house itself, along with some of the marine support vessels to include the Chicago Fire Department as always.

NATO Command and Communications operation number 4 is at the Burnham Harbor parking lot just across the way from Northerly Island and adjacent to the old McCormick Place. In the photos below, we see various members of the military / Homeland Security guarding the operation, meeting with superiors. We also see the greater cross section of the operation to include their communications and surveillance equipment which includes cellular and microwave frequency operation.

Next up is aviation and ground support operations! Many Chicago residents have witnessed the U.S. Coast Guard aggressively patrolling the skies, along with military and other helicopters. Shortwave America has not only photos, but the exact details on head of state and dignitary transportation operations. Other information includes that which is already publicly available data on the Homeland Security helicopters for all of you aviation enthusiasts.

Before we get to the photos, here is how the dignitary / head of state transportation is working! The military and Homeland Security helicopters meet the honored guests at area airports. Those airports are O’Hare, Chicago Executive, Rockford, and one other airport that is unconfirmed. They then fly the guests to Northerly Island (used to be Meigs Field) at Burnham Harbor, where they are are then transported under heavily armed guard using U.S. Government buses and unmarked vans to the old McCormick Place. They are then taken into and through that building to the new McCormick Place and they are also taken DIRECTLY to the NEW McCormick Place building thus bypassing the old McCormick Place and escorted into an entrance just to the North of the public entrance. (all of this was personally observed). This can also be confirmed by way of the NATO Security Transportation Plan PDF file at the Shortwave America NATO Communications Guide and Live Communications Coverage post. 

Information above explains why they drew the street closures the way they did. Get it now? Museum Campus being used for operations, Burnham Harbor being used for operations, Northerly Island being used for operations, Lake Shore Drive and Balbo is staging for Chicago Streets and Sanitation equipment, etc.

The reverse order will be taken when NATO guests leave.

As I started further south to see what else I might find, this reporter crossed through the Chicago Police Gold Star Families Park, the Chicago Fire Department Memorial Park, and the walk was VERY surreal because you could FEEL the tension in the air as joggers and cyclists watchfully went about their daily exercize. No one wanted to make a friendly greeting to other people, even a smile and wave were seen suspiciously. At Lakeshore Drive and 31st street, I met up with a photog from the Chicago Tribune who told me that even the Trib was having trouble identifying the aircraft and determining their operations in regard to NATO. After seeing my photos, the photog called his office and told them my findings. Let’s just say it was a very short conversation.

One important observation made through this day long trek was 7 to 8 foot high steel grate fences linked together were seen almost everywhere when it came to major roadsides and overpasses. The fence sections are approximately three to four feet across.

The greater amount of Federal resource and Law Enforcement presence was observed at the various Chicago Federal Buildings. What had previously been just a few vehicles here and there were now street lengths deep and even the local side streets / alleyways near the Federal buildings were packed with Federal Protective Service / Homeland Security Police vehicles.

This reporter did speak to Homeland Security Officers who state that they expect the city to absolutely erupt in never before seen violence over the weekend. The officers spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press. While speaking with the officers, it was observed that their radio transmissions are in the clear as of this time.

One other thing that is proven by this report: Taxpayers are INDEED on the hook for this NATO fiasco! All of this costs money, and it isn’t coming from thin air! Hey, Rahmbo and Obummer….where are the funds coming from? WE WANT TO KNOW!!!!

Wenlock – Official Mascot Of The 2012 London Olympics

A recent Vanity Fair article by Michael Joseph Gross contained some additional details about Wenlock….

Even the 2012 cartoon mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville, have the notion of surveillance built into their design. Wenlock and Mandeville are two slightly different-shaped silver blobs, meant to be drops of steel taken ‘from the last huge girder of the Olympic Stadium.’ Each of their faces is taken up entirely by a single eye, which is meant to be a camera lens. The packaging for the plush-toy versions of both figures explains, ‘My single eye is like a camera letting me record everything I see.’ (locog has also licensed toy versions of London bobbies and Buckingham Palace guards with camera lenses for faces.) Is the idea of giving children a surveillance toy, I asked Johnson, just a little creepy?

‘Are you referring to Mandeville and Wenlock?’ the mayor replied. ‘The thing that children up and down the country, indeed across the planet, are crying out to their parents to buy them for Christmas? Are you referring to our national icons as creepy? I think that’s—they will be, if they are not already, as cherished and as sought-after as—uh … Schtroumpfs. Or Smurfs. They are the Schtroumpfs du jour. They will be infinitely collectible. What to you is a creepy, monocular, Cyclopean android-type thing is to many children a lovable, hilarious, uh, individual—that will comfort them at night.’

Of course this is going to do nothing to reduce the reputation the UK has for being a Big Brother surveillance society.

In the UK today, there are more surveillance cameras per capita than anywhere else in the world. It has been estimated that there are close to 5 million surveillance cameras in the UK constantly watching every move that people make.

So Wenlock is a perfect mascot for an Olympics to be held in London.

The message that this “cute” little Olympic mascot sends is very clear: Big Brother is watching you.

The Denver Airport Murals

There are plenty of reasons to be creeped out by Denver International Airport, but perhaps the biggest reason is the artwork that is being displayed there. The Denver Airport murals have become world famous, and they convey some very bizarre messages.

For example, this first picture is of a mural entitled “Peace And Harmony With Nature”. But the truth is that this mural does not appear to be very peaceful at all. In fact, it appears to be a funeral for dead children while a fire rages in the background….

A closer look at the dead child on the bottom right of the mural reveals some very disturbing details….

As the Vigilant Citizen website points out, this dead girl appears to be identified with both Judaism and Christianity….

The girl on the right holds a Bible and a yellow ‘Juden’ star used by the Nazi to identify jews. It seems to symbolize the death of Judeo-Christian beliefs.

Is this mural trying to tell us that Judeo-Christian beliefs will be eradicated?

The Georgia Guidestones contain ten “new commandments” for humanity to follow.

If you will notice, the number one commandment is to reduce the human population of the planet to less than 500 million people….

But this desire to reduce the global population by more than 90% is not just expressed on this one monument.

As I have written about previously, global leaders associated with the New World Order have been expressing their desire for radical population reduction for many, many years.

The coming world government has been portrayed as a woman riding a beast for ages. It is a very powerful symbol and most educated people know what it stands for.

Well, guess what is standing right outside of EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium?

The woman is supposed to represent the pagan goddess Europa, and the beast is supposed to represent the pagan god Zeus. In the original mythology, Europa and Zeus become lovers.

The pagan god Zeus is commonly associated with the entity known as Lucifer or Satan. In the end, Europa (Europe) will be proudly riding high as a partner in the world system that has been established by Lucifer.

The Tower Of Babel

But a woman riding a beast is not the only symbology that the EU has pulled directly out of ancient traditions.

Posted below is an image of an official poster that was used to promote the EU Parliament before it was withdrawn due to public outcry.

It clearly portrays the EU as an attempt to restart the work that the builders of the Tower of Babel began.

So who originally constructed the Tower of Babel?

Well, according to tradition, it was actually a ruler named Nimrod that began construction of the Tower of Babel. From his home base in Babylon, he attempted to establish the very first global government.

Nimrod was a very important figure in ancient history. Many of the pagan religious practices that spread throughout the ancient world originated with the ancient Babylonian religion of Nimrod.

In fact, many of our most notable secret societies today trace their origins all the way back to Nimrod. According to some traditions, the very first Freemason was Nimrod.

So for the EU to purposely choose the symbology of the Tower of Babel and Nimrod to represent themselves is very powerful indeed….

The Great Seal

Most Americans have no idea, but there is also very powerful New World Order symbology on U.S. currency.

For example, on the back of every one dollar bill is the Great Seal of the United States.

At the bottom of the Great Seal, we find these words: “Novus Ordo Seclorum”.

When translated, that means a “new secular order” or a “new order for the ages”.

Next time you pull out a dollar bill, flip it over and take a look for yourself….

First among Americans means first in the world. Louisiana’s incarceration rate is nearly triple Iran’s, seven times China’s and 10 times Germany’s. (Source)

The U.S. prison business has become the essence of predatory corporatism: it privatizes profits and socializes losses. This combination has led to a situation where correctional facilities have very little incentive to correct the behavior of those who reside within their walls, but every incentive to ensure that new bodies arrive as fast as possible, and keep them in a state of indentured servitude.

Naturally, this is exactly what is happening in Louisiana, as the vast majority of inmates are not housed in state-run prisons, but in those owned by private corporations. The social fallout has been profound.

Corrections Corporation of America has led the charge toward creating a sound business model for those who would profit from crime and punishment since it won the first private prison contract from Tennessee in 1984. CCA has expanded nicely, recently submitting letters to 48 states with an offer to buy their prisons: “In exchange … for a 20-year management contract, plus an assurance that the prison would remain at least 90 percent full.” (Source)

America already holds 25% of the world’s prison population, with the number of these prisoners held in private prisons rising dramatically over the past 10 years from 2,000 housed in 5 private prisons, to more than 60,000 housed in 100. It is a number expected to rise to 360,000 prisoners over the next decade. (Source) Moreover, as the economy declines, there has even been a revival in debtors prisons, formally abolished in the early 1800s. Perhaps more troubling is the heightenedcriminalization of children for behavior which previously was considered merely a nuisance, not something worthy of handcuffs and the big house.

A human product clearly has been created and fostered by a system which values the worth of potential inmates as greater than their worth as free human beings.  This has led to a captive population that can be put to work creating goods for a multitude of industries for as little as 25 cents per hour, effectively creating a growing resurgence in open slavery; all while a misinformed majority believe that more people under lock and key translates to safer neighborhoods, towns and cities.

The above trends all have converged in Louisiana, and yet have dispelled the myth that more prisoners leads to more safety for the wider society at large. In a comprehensive article for theTimes-Picayune of New Orleans, Cindy Chang writes:

In the past two decades, Louisiana’s prison population has doubled, costing taxpayers billions while New Orleans continues to lead the nation in homicides.

 

This is the exact type of incongruent outcome that has been noted across the board even economically, where the supposed cost-saving measures of a streamlined private enterprise should theoretically trump bloated state government bureaucracy. However, this is only to assume that we are looking at a real free-market system.  What we see instead is collusion between state governments that respond to the lobbying efforts of a prison industry dominated by select mega corporations.

The states write the legislation that paves the way for more criminals to be guaranteed lengthier stays within prison walls where corporate profits can be reaped for shareholders. It is the worst of both worlds.

And for those who care about the treatment and rehabilitation of the inmates who are set for release back into society, the belief that private industry can do a better job is a belief that also falls flat. Despite state-run prisons being generally short-staffed, overcrowded, and underfunded, Louisiana’s per-day value on its human commodity within the private prison model is $24.39 – far lower than its state-run counterpart.  A focus on maximizing profits has led to a bare-bones, near concentration-camp existence where cost cutting is paramount. This has tremendous social implications, as private prison inmates are mostly serving non-life terms for mostly non-violent offenses, whereas state prison inmates are the most violent, often serving life terms:

In a cruel irony, those who could benefit most are unable to better themselves, while men who will die in prison proudly show off fistfuls of educational certificates.

Their facilities are cramped and airless compared with the spacious grounds of state prisons, where inmates walk along outdoor breezeways and stay busy with jobs or classes.

In addition to the above, the history that Chang documents of how Louisiana became the world’s prison capital through the expansion of the for-profit prison network perfectly illustrates the corporatist mindset:

In the early 1990s, when the incarceration rate was half what it is now, Louisiana was at a crossroads. Under a federal court order to reduce overcrowding, the state had two choices: Lock up fewer people or build more prisons.

It achieved the latter, not with new state prisons — there was no money for that — but by encouraging sheriffs to foot the construction bills in return for future profits. The financial incentives were so sweet, and the corrections jobs so sought after, that new prisons sprouted up all over rural Louisiana.

The national prison population was expanding at a rapid clip. Louisiana’s grew even faster. There was no need to rein in the growth by keeping sentencing laws in line with those of other states or by putting minor offenders in alternative programs. The new sheriffs’ beds were ready and waiting. Overcrowding became a thing of the past, even as the inmate population multiplied rapidly.

As we see the nation’s prison populations swell, and observe the concurrent swelling of corporate prison bottom lines, we must look at the ramifications to judge if this is a model worth supporting.

With the highest percentage of its citizens locked up in a for-profit system, Louisiana should be a safe, economically prosperous state if this model is effective in aggressively removing all of the bad elements that threaten society. What we see, however, is the exact opposite: Louisiana is one of the most poverty stricken, uneducated, and dangerous states in the union. The next generation is effectively punished as well by having one or both parents locked away, while the funding needed to potentially break the cycle is diverted toward building more lockups:

Louisiana spends about $663 million a year to feed, house, secure and provide medical care to 40,000 inmates. Nearly a third of that money — $182 million — goes to for-profit prisons, whether run by sheriffs or private companies.

‘Clearly, the more that Louisiana invests in large-scale incarceration, the less money is available for everything from preschools to community policing that could help to reduce the prison population,’ said Marc Mauer, executive director of The Sentencing Project, a national criminal justice reform group.

A nation that still purports to be the Land of the Free simply cannot continue to say that slogan with a straight face when it has literally invested in slavery. A predatory system — even if some believe it only preys on other predators — can only lead to a ruined social landscape like that of Louisiana; a state which should be more properly viewed as a canary in the coal mine for what lies in wait for the rest of America should it fully embrace the monetary value of a prison society.

A new facial “detection” app has hit the bar market in San Francisco, and its intentions are coming under scrutiny by potential patrons.

SceneTap is one of a plethora of private companies who are using the military tech of biometrics to database your face in a quest to offer convenience and enhanced social networking, paving the way toward making “anonymous” biometric information part of one’s entertainment repertoire with trendy tech applications.

Facial recognition technology, and the databases that catalog and store the results, is advancing at a pace that is difficult to contain. In 2006, the performance of face recognition algorithms were evaluated in the Face Recognition Grand Challenge (FRGC). High-resolution face images, 3-D face scans, and iris images were used in the tests. The results indicated that the new algorithms are 10 times more accurate than the face recognition algorithms of 2002 and 100 times more accurate than those of 1995. Some of the algorithms were able to outperform human participants in recognizing faces and could uniquely identify identical twins. (Source)

And that was 2006. One of the latest military-grade systems can now scan 36 million faces per second, or every face in the U.S. within 10 seconds. It is a technology that has trickled down from use in war zones like Afghanistan to catalog potential terrorists, to U.S. border control applications for combating illegal immigration, to FBI crime detection, to post-riot analysis, and right on down to establishing personal ID for a wide range of private companies.

In a detailed article discussing the commercial applications of this military biometric technology and the pace of development, Madison Ruppert commented:

We launched in July 2011 at 50 venues in Chicago and have since expanded to Austin (Texas), Bloomington (Ind.), Gainesville (Fla.), Athens (GA) and Madison (Wis.)

He went on to reiterate much of what appears in the company’s FAQ section of their website, which I’ve reproduced in full below to offer a balanced assessment:

How does SceneTap’s technology work? 

SceneTap uses anonymous facial detection software placed inside a venue. Based on facial characteristics of patrons, SceneTap technology approximates age and gender with a high degree of accuracy.

SceneTap also counts the number of people entering and leaving the venue at any given time to report crowd size.

This seems ‘Big Brother’-ish. Is my privacy at risk? 

Not at all. In fact, SceneTap has no idea who you are and does not collect personal information. You give up your personal information when a doorman scans your ID or you check in via foursquare, but not when you enter a SceneTap venue. It’s less intrusive than paying a bill with a credit card.

Though the software is video-based, SceneTap does not stream or record images, and no one – including the operator of the venue – has access to the video.

Where is all this information processed? 

The software can only identify facial features and accurately estimate each person’s gender and age. This information is processed by the software connected to the sensors in each venue.

Are you selling my personal information in an attempt to achieve world domination? 

No. Facial detection technology cannot identify individuals.

What is the difference between facial detection and facial recognition? 

SceneTap uses a technology known as ‘facial detection’ in order to deliver real-time information on the scene of its partner venues. Commonly mistaken for ‘facial recognition’, facial detection merely detects the presence of a face and estimates the gender and age of the face based on how it appears. Facial recognition, which attempts to determine a person’s actual identity, is a technology that SceneTap neither uses nor has any plans to use. Our goal is to give you an entertaining and informative tool that helps you answer a common question, “What’s it like at my favorite venues right now?”

The DEA and two sheriffs are asking permission to install stationary license plate scanners on the freeway in Beaver and Washington counties. The primary purpose would be to catch or build cases against drug traffickers, but at a Utah Legislature committee meeting Wednesday, the sheriffs and a DEA representative described how the scanners also could be used to catch kidnappers and violent criminals.

That, however, wasn’t the concern of skeptical legislators on the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee. They were worried about the DEA storing the data for two years and who would be able to access it.

“It’s not against the law to drive down I-15 from Utah to Nevada to gamble,” said Utah Senate President Michael Waddoups, “but there are a lot of Utahns that would be pretty embarrassed by that.”

Committee members asked for more information about the scanners and the data storage and agreed to discuss the issue at its June meeting.

Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel and Washington County Sheriff Cory Pulsipher testified in favor of the scanners — which operate much like those used in the check-out lane at grocery stores — and said they need legislative approval to put the devices on the freeway and on poles and electrical lines belonging to the Utah Department of Transportation.

One scanner would capture the license plates of vehicles traveling south on I-15 somewhere in Beaver County and the other scanner would catch northbound plates in Washington County.

Gary Newcomb, a supervisory IT specialist from the DEA, flew in from Virginia to testify Wednesday. He said the scanners are already in place on drug trafficking corridors in California and Texas, and the DEA is considering placing them on interstates near the Arizona cities of Kingman and Flagstaff.

The scanners would capture only the license plate, the GPS coordinates and the direction of travel, Newcomb said. If the DEA or another law enforcement agency has input a license plate number for a car to be stopped immediately, local police would be notified by email or a cell phone text message when that plate crossed the scanner.

For long-term investigations, including those tracking people who grow marijuana on public land in Utah, the digital data would be routed through the police dispatch centers in Beaver and Washington counties to a DEA facility in northern Virginia where it would be stored for two years.

The stored data could be used only to research the movements of suspected drug traffickers or to help other law enforcement agencies investigating serious crimes, Newcomb said. The DEA would track who is accessing the data and why, he said.

The stored data would not be cross-referenced with other databases such as those with names, drivers license or car make and model information, Newcomb said.

“I can assure you there is no private information stored in association with these plates,” Newcomb told lawmakers.

The sheriffs also would have direct access to the data. Noel said the scanners could be programed to look for someone suspected of kidnapping a child. He also said he would use it to investigate people suspected of violent crime.

Noel admitted he would be “tempted” to use the scanner data to investigate felony property crimes but would resist. Noel, whose father is Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kanab, said he has no interest in using the scanners to locate people with outstanding traffic tickets and misdemeanor warrants, as many local police agencies do with their scanners.

Besides local police departments in Utah already having scanners fixed to patrol cars, Noel pointed out UDOT has video cameras on roads and freeways across Utah.

“I can have a deputy sit out there [on I-15] all day long and write down license plates and we still have to follow the exact same procedure” for investigating suspects, Noel said.

Legislators asked why the data had to be stored for two years when some police departments in Utah and elsewhere with license plate scanners fixed on patrol cars store the data for one year or only a few months. They also asked whether the sheriffs or the DEA would be forced to provide specific data if they received a subpoena in a civil court case. At least two legislators gave the scenario of a divorce case where a spouse files a subpoena for the data to track the movements of the other spouse.

Noel and Pulsipher said state law gives them authority to deny such subpoenas. Newcomb admitted he wasn’t aware of any such prohibitions in federal law but said he has never received a such a request from a civil case.

Waddoups said he loves the idea of license plate scanners from a law enforcement standpoint.

“From the public relations aspect and the government intrusion into life, I hate this,” Waddoups said.

As the committee was about to adjourn, chairman Rep. Curtis Oda of Clearfield, seemed to summarize legislators’ skepticism.

“I’ll be quite frank with you,” Oda told Newcomb. “A lot of us in Utah don’t trust the federal government.”

The booklet, which was distributed to “business colleagues” in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.

It also promotes Obama’s anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White–which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead.

Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation.   He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.

The booklet, which is thirty-six pages long, is printed in blue ink (and, on the cover, silver/grey ink), using offset lithography. It purports to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of Acton & Dystel, which was founded in 1976.

Jay Acton no longer represents Obama. However, Jane Dystel stilllists Obama as a client on her agency’s website.

According to the booklet itself, the text was edited by Miriam Goderich, who has since become Dystel’s partner at Dystel & Goderich, an agency founded in 1994. Breitbart News attempted to reach Goderich by telephone several times over several days. Her calls are screened by an automated service that requires callers to state their name and company, which we did. She never answered.

The design of the booklet was undertaken by Richard Bellsey, who has since closed his business. Bellsey, reached by telephone, could not recall the exact details of the booklet, but told Breitbart News that it “sounds like one of our jobs, like I did for [Acton & Dystel] twenty years ago or more.”

The reverse side of the page that features Barack Obama includes former Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader and early-1990s “boy band” pop sensation New Kids On the Block.

Acton, who spoke to Breitbart News by telephone, confirmed precise details of the booklet and said that it cost the agency tens of thousands of dollars to produce.

He indicated that while “almost nobody” wrote his or her own biography, the non-athletes in the booklet, whom “the agents deal[t] with on a daily basis,” were “probably” approached to approve the text as presented.

Dystel did not respond to numerous requests for comment, via email and telephone. Her assistant told Breitbart News that Dystel “does not answer questions about Obama.”

The errant Obama biography in the Acton & Dystel booklet does not contradict the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate. Moreover, several contemporaneous accounts of Obama’s background describe Obama as having been born in Hawaii.

The biography does, however, fit a pattern in which Obama–or the people representing and supporting him–manipulate his public persona.

David Maraniss’s forthcoming biography of Obama has reportedly confirmed, for example, that a girlfriend Obama described in Dreams from My Father was, in fact, an amalgam of several separate individuals.

In addition, Obama and his handlers have a history of redefining his identity when expedient. In March 2008, for example, he famouslydeclared: “I can no more disown [Jeremiah Wright] than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.”

Several weeks later, Obama left Wright’s church–and, according to Edward Klein’s new biography, The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, allegedly attempted to persuade Wright not to “do any more public speaking until after the November [2008] election” (51).

Obama has been known frequently to fictionalize aspects of his own life. During his 2008 campaign, for instance, Obama claimed that his dying mother had fought with insurance companies over coverage for her cancer treatments.

That turned out to be untrue, but Obama has repeated the story–which even the Washington Post called “misleading”–in a campaign video for the 2012 election.

The Acton & Dystel biography could also reflect how Obama was seen by his associates, or transitions in his own identity. He is said, for instance, to have cultivated an “international” identity until well into his adulthood, according to Maraniss.

Regardless of the reason for Obama’s odd biography, the Acton & Dystel booklet raises new questions as part of ongoing efforts to understand Barack Obama–who, despite four years in office remains a mystery to many Americans, thanks to the mainstream media.

Joy Amatuccio provided WSOC-TV with a photo of the cardboard time-out box where her son, Jacob, was forced to spend part of his days. Jacob suffered a traumatically brain injury as a toddler and is partially paralyzed and mentally handicapped, causing him to have frequent outbursts at school.

“I was mortified,” Amatuccio said. “I was absolutely mortified. I think I was in disbelief at first, like, ‘Why would they put him in a box?’ There must be another explanation for this.”

“It’s dignity. That’s his dignity,” she added. “These are all his peers. People can walk by and see, there’s a child in the box. ‘Look at the disabled boy in a box.’”

The Caldwell County School System said the teacher had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

“This is not in adherence to school board policy or procedure in Caldwell County Schools,” school spokeswoman Libby Brown insisted.

The pilot of the Cessna jet radioed air traffic controllers to warn them that “A remote controlled aircraft” had flown past his plane far too close for comfort.

“Something just went by the other way … About 20 to 30 seconds ago. It was like a large remote-controlled aircraft.” the pilot said in the transmission that was captured on the live air traffic audio website liveatc.net.

The craft was reported as being about 8,000 feet above sea level, or about 2,800 feet above the ground, at the time the pilot reported the seeing it. It did not show up on radar.

The type of drones used by NATO typically fly at 10,000 feet and below. Other tactical military drones can fly up to 18,000 feet.

Denver 9News reports that the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, which it has described as potentially “extremely dangerous.”

“The threat is there from a collision standpoint,” an FAA spokesman said.

In a statement to USA Today, the agency said: “The FAA is investigating the incident and will try to positively identify the object the Citation pilot reported, where it came from and who was operating it.”

Aviation expert and former NTSB investigator Greg Feith told 9News that he believed the object could have been either a military or police drone.

“We have something in controlled airspace that poses a danger,” Feith added.
