Supply Chain Breakdown To Account For Higher Prices, Shortages & Job Loss

(AAron Hutchins)  Incomplete list of announced United States food supply shutdowns for the month of May, 2015: Many food suppliers/distributors are consolidating operations and killing jobs due to the collapsing grocery store and restaurant industries, as well as rising costs of food production, and spread of disease. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is alive and well, destroying food for humans, and other animals!   About 5-thousand U.S. beekeepers reported losing 42% of their bees from April 2014 to April 2015!  For the same time period of 2013-14 they lost 34%!   A group of universities and research laboratories (called Bee Informed Partnership) have…

Crime Wave: Loneliness & Poverty To Blame For Increased Criminal Activity Among Seniors

(Carol Matlack)  British tabloids were abuzz after a dramatic recent heist in London’s Hatton Garden diamond district, as thieves made off with more than £10 million ($15.5 million) in cash and gems from a heavily secured vault. According to one theory, the gang used a contortionist who slithered into the vault. Others held that a thirtysomething criminal genius known as the “King of Diamonds” had masterminded the caper. But when police arrested nine suspects, the most striking thing about the crew wasn’t physical dexterity or villainous brilliance. It was age. The youngest suspect in the case is 42, and most are much older, including two men in their mid-seventies.…

Report: Syria On Brink Of Economic Collapse

(Arutz Sheva)  With most of its natural and mineral resources having fallen under rebel control, Syrian state revenues have shrunk, leaving the government dependent on unstable sources of income for its survival. Four years of conflict have decimated the state coffers, reports AFP. Now the government’s only revenues are drawn from dwindling customs and income taxes, heavily bolstered by lines of credit from key regimebacker Iran. With the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist group, the regime has also lost control over swathes of vital resources – with two phosphate mines among its most recent losses. According to local activists and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group, ISIS…

Rain Tax Guy: Climate Change Greatest Business Opportunity to Come to Our Country in 100 Years

(Anastasia Pantsios)  Hillary Clinton may be the prohibitive favorite, and the Democratic slate for the presidential nomination almost certainly won’t be as large as the Republican field. But Saturday, another credible candidate joined Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the race: former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, who left office in January after serving for eight years. And, like Clinton and Sanders, those who care about the climate will find him a more sympathetic candidate than anyone on the GOP side. In his announcement speech, O’Malley declared, “Climate change is real. We must create an American jobs agenda to build a new…

Fingerprints For Food Pilot Program Launches In Mass

(Eric Scheiner)  The latest legislative effort in Massachusetts to try and combat welfare fraud is fingerprinting. Some lawmakers estimate it could save millions. Western Mass News spoke with Bay State residents that agree that those who cheat the state assistance programs are ruining it for the ones who really need the help. “A lot of people need it and some people take advantage. I think fingerprinting and drug testing too, anything they can do to get those people out who abuse the system,” Evelyn Valley told WGGB. Mass. House Minority Leader Brad Jones is offering a possible solution by using…

DOJ To Invest In Youth Courts Where “Teens Rule Teens”

(Elizabeth Harrington)  The Department of Justice (DOJ) is spending nearly $2 million to see if courts run by teenagers can be a viable tool to fight school bullying. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) tasked WestEd, a San Francisco-based education research group, late last year to study the effectiveness of “youth courts,” where the roles of judge, jury, defense, and prosecution are filled by students, who can then administer punishment in middle and high schools. “Reports of violence, bullying, and other offenses have resulted in concerns about school safety,” according to the NIJ grant. “Administrators, anxious to restore order, have…

Bush: Retirement Age Should Be Phased In To 68 Or 70

(Julian Hattem)  Jeb Bush wants to push back the retirement age for Social Security by as many as five years. Instead of allowing Americans to collect full benefits at age 65, the former Florida governor and likely GOP presidential candidate suggested on Sunday that it should be pushed back to 68 or 70. “I think it needs to be phased in over an extended period of time,” he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “We need to look over the horizon and begin to phase in, over an extended period of time, going from 65 to 68 or 70,” he…

Cruz: Universities That Boycott Israel Should Lose Federal Funding

(NEW YORK)  Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that universities that boycott Israel should lose their federal funding. Cruz’s remarks were aimed at the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, which is gaining traction on college campuses. It calls for U.S. companies and universities to divest from Israel. Cruz has spoken against BDS but sharpened his tone Thursday. The nation needs a president who will ensure that “if a university boycotts the nation of Israel then that university will forfeit federal taxpayer dollars,” Cruz said at the Champion of Jewish Values International Awards Gala here, where he received the Defender of Israel…

24-Hour Transportation Service For Drunk CA Senators Paid For By Taxpayers

(SACRAMENTO)  California senators too drunk to drive can turn to a 24-hour ride service funded by taxpayers, a local newspaper reports. State records show that the California Senate hired in February two part-time employees whose duties include “ground transportation for Senate members.” The employees are paid $2,532 per month, the Sacramento Bee reported. The service comes after high-profile arrests of lawmakers on suspicion of drunken driving. Four lawmakers in the last five years have been accused of drunk driving, including three on streets around the Capitol. The office of Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León declined to discuss the…

Conservatives Are In Denial: America Is No Longer A Superpower (And It Hasn’t Been For Years)

(Michael T. Klare)  Take a look around the world and it’s hard not to conclude that the United States is a superpower in decline. Whether in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East, aspiring powers are flexing their muscles, ignoring Washington’s dictates, or actively combating them. Russia refuses to curtail its support for armed separatists in Ukraine; China refuses to abandon its base-building endeavors in the South China Sea; Saudi Arabia refuses to endorse the U.S.-brokered nuclear deal with Iran; the Islamic State movement (ISIS) refuses to capitulate in the face of U.S. airpower. What is a declining superpower supposed to do in the face of such defiance? This…

Dear Texans: Here’s 46 Republicans Who Voted Against Freedom Of The Press

(Doug Giles)  Last Wednesday, the Texas Legislature pushed through, and I mean pushed, controversial legislation which repeals portions of the First Amendment, effectively ending citizen journalism in the Capitol. How quaint, eh? Yep, when Texas legislators found out about the undercover video footage about to be released by Hannah Giles (of ACORN fame) and Joseph Basel with the American Phoenix Foundation, they flipped out and quickly jammed through legislation, SB19, which would criminalize this First Amendment practice from 1985 forward. Why they picked 1985 only lawless liberals and repugnant Republicans can know. I would have thought for an apropos Orwellian…

Jeb Bush Says Rand Paul Wrong On Ending Surveillance Laws

(NASHVILLE)  Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Saturday that Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is “wrong” on his efforts to end post-Sept. 11 surveillance laws used against suspected spies and terrorists. Bush, a likely GOP presidential candidate in 2016, called for the reauthorization of the Patriot Act enacted under the presidency of his brother George W. Bush. “What I admire most about my brother was he kept us safe,” Jeb Bush said at a Tennessee Republican Party fundraiser. “And I believe people will respect him for a long time because of that.” Without action by midnight Sunday, a number of…

Cash-Strapped State ObamaCare Exchanges Considering Mergers

(Michael Tennant)  State ObamaCare exchanges are fast running out of cash because of higher-than-expected costs and lower-than-expected enrollment. In an attempt to keep their heads above water, many exchanges are considering combining some of their operations with those of other states — a tactic that may prove as difficult as setting up the exchanges in the first place and that raises the specter of fully nationalized health insurance. The Obama administration, under the terms of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), disbursed about $5 billion in subsidies to states to get their exchanges up and running. After that, the exchanges were…

US Playing Dangerous Game With China: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Scott Rickard, a former American intelligence linguist, in Orlando, about the US military calling on China to immediately stop developing islands in the South China Sea, accusing Beijing of acting out of step with international law. The following is a rough transcription of the interview. Press TV: What do you make of all of this right now, I am dealing with Beijing and Washington and these islands? Now China is saying they have every right, the United States says they do not? Your take sir. Rickard: Well United States has continued to sensationalize China’s activities not only…

Russia Puts 89 Western Leaders On Secret Ban List

(LONDON)  Britain’s former deputy PM Nick Clegg is among a secret list of 89 western leaders declared persona non-grata by Russia, prompting the UK government to say that there was no justification for the move. Clegg, the outgoing Liberal Democrat leader, appears to have angered the Kremlin by calling for Russia to be stripped of the 2018 football World Cup in an interview with Sunday Times last July, after President Vladimir Putin’s aggression in Ukraine. Clegg had said it was “unthinkable” that Russia should keep the tournament. He has been joined on the no-go list by eight other Britons, including…

Meet The Co-Founder Of An Apocalypse Think Tank

(Erin Biba)  This year the Doomsday Clock moved forward for the first time since 2012. The theoretical countdown to catastrophe was devised 67 years ago by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a watchdog group created in 1945 by scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project. Its contemporary caretakers have inched the clock three minutes closer to midnight based on the threats of climate change and a slowdown in disarmament. But global warming and nuclear malaise are not the only threats facing humanity. One organization is looking at the potential threats posed by emerging technologies—dangers no one has even considered…

When It Can Be Illegal To Withdraw Your Own Money

(Zack Guzman)  It’s your money, in your account, but that doesn’t mean you can take it out any way you please. Failure to report large cash transactions can often trigger federal investigations, leading to fines or even lengthy prison sentences. It all stems from U.S. law that requires forms to be submitted—both by financial institutions, as well as bank customers—each time a cash transaction in excess of $10,000 occurs. Customers hoping to avoid having to disclose such transactions often seek ways around around the law in a process known as “structuring,” which can lead to serious money laundering charges. Federal…

U.S. Economy Doomed By Healthcare

(Smarter Analyst)  As it stands now, U.S. healthcare will bankrupt the nation and doom it to permanent stagnation and recession. That healthcare alone is dooming the U.S. economy is not news to Of Two Minds readers, as I have been covering the catastrophic consequences of our runaway healthcare system for the past decade.   Three charts crystallize the healthcare dynamics that are dooming the U.S. economy. The first depicts the runaway growth of healthcare costs–a rapid expansion that is a permanent feature of U.S. healthcare, regardless of which party is in office or what reforms are instituted. This expansion of costs has…

More Than 35 Trillion Gallons Of Rain Have Fallen On Texas So Far In May

(Andrew Freedman)  Heavy rain prompted more flash flood warnings across parts of Texas on Saturday, as another area of heavy thunderstorms swept into the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex during the morning, with more rain likely from Austin and San Antonio to Houston later in the day. These storms will be capable of dumping rainfall at rates of at least 2 to 4 inches per hour, sending creeks and streams back over their banks and re-flooding roadways. According to the National Weather Service, through Friday, there had been enough rain across Texas to cover the entire state — the nation’s second-largest by…

This Is How Little It Cost Goldman To Bribe America’s Senators To Fast Track Obama’s TPP Bill

(Zero Hedge)  It took just a few days after the stunning defeat of Obama’s attempt to fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership bill in the Senate at the hands of his own Democratic party, before everything returned back to normal and the TPP fast-track was promptly passed. Why? The simple answer: money. Or rather, even more money. Because while the actual contents of the TPP may be highly confidential, and their public dissemination may lead to prison time for the “perpetrator” of such illegal transparency, we now know just how much it cost corporations to bribe the Senate to do the…

Obama Administration Prepares Assault On Gun Owners With 12 New Bills

(WASHINGTON)  The Justice Department plans to move forward this year with more than a dozen new gun-related regulations, according to list of rules the agency has proposed to enact before the end of the Obama administration. The regulations range from new restrictions on high-powered pistols to gun storage requirements. Chief among them is a renewed effort to keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally unstable or have been convicted of domestic abuse. Gun safety advocates have been calling for such reforms since the Sandy Hook school shooting nearly three years ago in Newtown, Conn. They say keeping guns…

Vice President Joe Biden Says His Son Has Died Of Brain Cancer

(WASHINGTON)  Vice President Joe Biden said on Saturday his son Beau has died after battling brain cancer. “The entire Biden family is saddened beyond words. We know that Beau’s spirit will live on in all of us, especially through his brave wife, Hallie, and two remarkable children, Natalie and Hunter,” a statement released by the White House said. Earlier this month, Biden, 46, a former Delaware attorney general, was reported to be undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center outside Washington. After eight years as attorney general, Beau Biden joined the investor law firm Grant & Eisenhofer in 2015.…

Genocide: NATO Deliberately Destroyed Libya’s Water Infrastructure

(SOTT)  The military targeting of civilian infrastructure, especially of water supplies, is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions, writes Nafeez Ahmed. Yet this is precisely what NATO did in Libya, while blaming the damage on Gaddafi himself. Since then, the country’s water infrastructure – and the suffering of its people – has only deteriorated further. Numerous reports comment on the water crisis that is escalating across Libya as consumption outpaces production. Some have noted the environmental context in regional water scarcity due to climate change. But what they ignore is the fact that the complex national irrigation system that…

The Dirty Secrets of George Bush

A number of allegations have been written about and several local, state, and federal investigations have taken place related to the notion of the Mena Intermountain Municipal Airport as a CIA drop point in large scale cocaine trafficking beginning in the latter part of the 1980s. The topic has received some press coverage that has included allegations of awareness, participation and/or coverup involvement of figures such as future presidents Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush, as well future Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Saline County prosecutor Dan Harmon (who was convicted of numerous felonies including drug…

Ukraine Spends 7 Million U.S. Dollars A Day On 410-Day War

(Ukrinform)  Ukraine spends on war up to seven million dollars a day – Yatsenyuk KYIV: Ukraine spends on war from five to seven million dollars a day. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk following the meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, an Ukrinform correspondent reported. “Every day of war cost Ukraine 5 – 7 million U.S. dollars,” the Head of Government said. Yatsenyuk stressed that Russia continued to ignore the Minsk agreements and continued to supply heavy weapons to militants in Donbas. According to Prime Minister, “the Russian game, accusing Ukraine or the West of…

Now The Government Wants To Ban Holding Your Breath

(Selwyn Duke)  If you want our freedoms restored, well, as they say, don’t hold your breath waiting — especially since holding your breath may soon be against the law, at least in a certain context. In an effort many would described as the nanny-state run amuck, there’s a movement afoot to ban “prolonged breath holding” in public pools. Reuters Barbara Goldbergreports: A U.S. Navy SEAL hopeful and his friend, an off-duty lifeguard, were barreling through underwater drills in a pool just 3.5 feet (1 meter) deep. No one realized anything was wrong until their limp, unconscious bodies were noticed beneath…

California Passes Bill To Make Pregnancy Centers Promote Abortions

(Steven Ertelt)  Thousands of pregnancy centers across the nation are the counterbalance to the abortion industry by providing women with tangible help and real alternatives to abortion. But pregnancy centers in California may soon find themselves forced to promote abortions under legislation pending in the California legislature. The state Assembly has passed AB 775, the Pregnancy Counseling Discrimination Rule, would require all pregnancy centers to promote abortions to their clients. There is no conscience clause or opt out for centers that provide pregnant women assistance without abortions or abortion referrals. Failure to comply carries a $500 fine for first offense and $1,000…

US Surveillance Shows Chinese Artillery On Artificial Islands, Officials Say

(FTTWR)  U.S. surveillance images show China has positioned weaponry on at least one of the artificial islands it is developing in the South China Sea, officials say, apparently confirming suspicions that Beijing has been building up the area for military use. A U.S. official confirmed to Fox News on Friday that China has put artillery pieces on its man-made islands.    The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, first reported that images taken about a month ago showed two Chinese motorized artillery pieces on one of the artificial reefs. Although the weaponry would not pose a threat to U.S. planes…

The TPP, Monsanto, Rockefeller, Trilateral Commission, Brzezinski

(Jon Rappoport)  All hands on deck for global, economic, corporate dictatorship. There are dots to connect here. They’re real, and they’re spectacular. Let me begin with a brief exchange from a 1978 interview, conducted by reporter Jeremiah Novak. He was speaking with two American members of the Trilateral Commission (TC), a group founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller and his intellectual flunkey, Zbigniew Brzezinski.   NOVAK: Yes, but why doesn’t President Carter come out with it and tell the American people that [US] economic and political power is being coordinated by a [Trilateral Commission] committee made up of Henry Owen…

These ‘Big 6′ Chemical Companies Now Make 50,000 Different Pesticides

(Christina Sarich)  At what point can we start calling pesticide makers the true pests that need to be eradicated? At this point the number of pesticides in the world is beyond alarming; it’s (literally) sickening. In the UK, it has been estimated that enough pesticide is used to account for 420g for every woman, man, and child. In the US, the numbers are similar, if not even more extreme. Globally, there are now more than 50,000 different pesticides being manufactured with over 600 ‘active’ ingredients – and yet we still have pests. How can this be? The alarms have been…

Muslim Cleric Denied Soda On United Flight Because She Could Use It As A Weapon On The Plane

(Tom Boggioni)  A Muslim chaplain and the director of interfaith engagement at Northwestern University claims she was subjected to racist comments after being denied an unopened can of soda by a United flight attendant who said she feared she might use it as a weapon, reports the Chicago Sun Times. Writing on her Facebook page, Tahera Ahmad, an associate chaplain at the university, claims she asked for a Diet Coke on the United flight and objected when she was given an opened can, feeling it was unsanitary. “I am sitting on a United airlines flight in the air 30,000ft above…

More Military Equipment Turns Up — This Time In A Nevada Walmart Parking Lot

(FERNLEY)  The above video, posted to YouTube May 24, shows some type of large military vehicle and possibly more in the background at a local Walmart store. Notice how the woman filming says “trucks”. You can also see shipping “containers” in the video which are consistent with what others have spotted at closed stores in several states. We posted this video just in case this activity dovetails with the upcoming JADE HELM 15 military exercise set to officially take place July 15 through Sept. 15, allowing readers to use the website as a database as more information and action unfolds.…

Veteran Meteorologist Slams Media For ‘Idiotic Claims’ On Houston Floods: No, This Was Not Unprecedented

(James Spann)  I have been a professional meteorologist for 36 years. Since my debut on television in 1979, I have been an eyewitness to the many changes in technology, society, and how we communicate. I am one who embraces change, and celebrates the higher quality of life we enjoy now thanks to this progress. But, at the same time, I realize the instant communication platforms we enjoy now do have some negatives that are troubling. Just a few examples in recent days… I would say hundreds of people have sent this image to me over the past 24 hours via…

EPA Fighting Global Warming By Reducing Food Supply

(American Thinker)  The EPA is finally getting serious about imaginary global warming.  It realizes that closing power plants is just not going to be enough to stop this non-happening global catastrophe.  As everyone knows, the real source of imaginary global warming is people, and in order to solve this fictional problem, you need to reduce the supply of people.  And a leading way to do that is to cut the supply of food.  That may explain why the EPA is mandating that more food produced be taken out of the food chain and used as ethanol. The Environmental Protection Agency on Friday…

The Entire Editorial Board Of The Washington Post Sells Out To Monsanto

(Mike Adams)  The entire editorial board of the Washington Post functions as a group of hilarious quack science Monsanto operatives pretending to be engaged in reporting real news. It’s so bad that key articles published by the Post now appear to be “written” by Monsanto, with the “Greenwashington Post” parroting Monsanto’s quack corporate “science” talking points. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the Post’s hit piece response to Chipotle’s announcement of going 100% non-GMO on their menu items. As background to all this, customer demand for non-GMO foods is exploding across America. People don’t want to eat foods laced…

NC Governor Pat McCrory Vetoes Controversial ‘Ag-Gag’ bill

(RALEIGH)  North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has vetoed a bill that would allow businesses to sue employees who secretly record animal abuse or other illegal activity. “While I support the purpose of this bill, I believe it does not adequately protect or give clear guidance to honest employees who uncover criminal activity. I am concerned that subjecting these employees to potential civil penalties will create an environment that discourages them from reporting illegal activities,” said McCrory. Several groups had come out in opposition to North Carolina House Bill 405 – also known as the “ag-gag” bill. It doesn’t just apply…

Politician Caught Watching Porn In Parliamentary Debate

(Doug Bolton)  A Brazilian politician has been caught on camera watching porn on his mobile phone while in parliament. Joao Rodrigues, a member of the Social Democratic Party, was caught watching porn by SBT, a Brazilian news broadcaster. It happened as he sat in the Chamber of Deputies, Brazil’s equivalent of the House of Commons, during a debate on electoral reform. The video shows Rodrigues discreetly flicking through pictures and videos on his phone under the desk, before not-so-discreetly showing the images to colleagues, who crowd around him and peer over his shoulder. Rather than giving the classic ‘I was…

Texas Senate Passes Bill To Establish Bullion Depository

(AUSTIN)  A bill taking a step towards gold and silver as commonly-used legal tender in Texas passed in the state Senate today by an overwhelming 29-2 vote. Introduced by State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R- Southlake) and four co-sponsors on Feb. 12, House Bill 483 (HB483) would create a state bullion depository. It reads, in part: (a) The Texas Bullion Depository is established as an agency of this state in the office of the comptroller. (b) The depository is established to serve as the custodian, guardian, and administrator of certain bullion and specie that may be transferred to or otherwise acquired by this…

Mystery Pollution Keeps California Beaches Closed

(Los Angeles)  A string of popular California beaches will remain closed until further notice due to mystery oil-based pollution, officials said Friday. The stretch of coastline south of Los Angeles was closed to the public from Wednesday, barely a week after an oil spill 100 miles further north, although there is still no confirmed link between the two. On Thursday officials said clean-up workers had made “significant progress,” leading to speculation that they could re-open as early Friday. But authorities downplayed that. “The beaches are closed until we make a determination that it’s safe,” said US Coast Guard spokeswoman Charlene…

House Bill Would Require Gun Owners To Have Liability Insurance Or Face $10,000 Fine

(Lydia Wheeler)  House Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.) has introduced a bill that would require gun owners to carry liability insurance. The Firearm Risk Protection Act, unveiled Friday, would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon, and would impose a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have it. Service members and law enforcement officers, however, would be exempt from the requirement. “We require insurance to own a car, but no such requirement exists for guns,” Maloney said in a statement. “The results are clear: car fatalities have declined…

20% Of Your Genes Are Patented And Owned By Private Corporations

(INSIGHT)  Are you aware that 20% of your genes are patented and owned by private corporations? This fact alone was enough to spark our interest and inspire us to find out more from German documentarian, Hannah Leonie Prinzler. Almost six years ago, Hannah set out to investigate the nefarious world of patents in her riveting documentary, The Patent Wars. The stories told throughout this film have complex and potentially sinister implications for all of us. There is a very real war going on right now hidden from plain view, and it concerns each and everyone of us. We sat down with Hannah to discuss why patents effect us all and, more…

10 Things That Would Be Different If The Federal Reserve Had Never Been Created

(Michael Snyder)  The vast majority of Americans, including many of those who believe that they are “educated” about the Federal Reserve, do not really understand how the Federal Reserve really makes money for the international banking elite. Many of those opposed to the Federal Reserve will point to the record $80.9 billion in profits that the Federal Reserve made last year as evidence that they are robbing the American people blind.  But then those defending the Federal Reserve will point out that the Fed returned $78.4 billion to the U.S. Treasury.  As a result, the Fed only made a couple…

Post Chavez Venezuela: World’s Highest Inflation Rate Year To Date 500% Increase

(Steve H. Hanke)  Venezuela’s bolivar is collapsing. And as night follows day, Venezuela’s annual implied inflation rate is soaring. Last week, the annual inflation rate broke through the 500% level. It now stands at 510%. When inflation rates are elevated, standard economic theory and reliable empirical techniques allow us to produce accurate inflation estimates. With free market exchange-rate data (usually black-market data), the inflation rate can be calculated. The principle of purchasing power parity (PPP), which links changes in exchange rates and changes in prices, allows for a reliable inflation estimate. To calculate the inflation rate in Venezuela, all that…

Judge Orders Clinton Foundation Racketeering Case To Trial

(SARAH WESTWOOD)  A Florida judge has set a trial date in the racketeering case against the Clinton Foundation and Bill and Hillary Clinton. Judge Donald Middlebrooks of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ordered the racketeering, influenced and corrupt organizations, or RICO, case to head to trial January 20, 2016. The order, entered Friday and obtained by the Washington Examiner, came days after Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch filed a lengthy civil complaint against the Clintons and their foundation in the same court. While the Clinton legal team could settle the case or enter a variety…

American Express President Ed Gilligan Dies Suddenly After Falling Ill On Flight

(NEW YORK)  American Express said president Ed Gilligan died suddenly Friday after falling ill while flying on a corporate plane to New York. The credit card company said the 55-year-old executive was coming back from a business trip. The plane made an emergency landing in the U.S., an American Express spokeswoman said, but she declined to say where Gilligan had been. “This is deeply painful and frankly unimaginable for all of us who had the great fortune to work with Ed,” said American Express CEO Ken Chenault, in a letter to employees Friday. Gilligan began working at American Express Co.…

Mass Grave Uncovered Near Tikrit Iraq

(BAGHDAD)   Iraq has so far found the remains of nearly 500 people believed to have been executed by ISIL near Tikrit last year in what is known as the Speicher massacre. “We have exhumed the bodies of 470 Speicher martyrs from burial sites in Tikrit,” health minister Adila Hammoud said on Thursday. Ms Hammoud said the figure of 470 was not final. “The work to exhume Speicher victims continues.” Last June, armed men belonging or allied to ISIL abducted hundreds of young, mostly Shiite recruits from Speicher military base, just outside the city of Tikrit. They were then lined…
